Dead Island fans, it's time to get excited! Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios have officially announced that the highly-anticipated next entry in the franchise, Dead Island 2, has GONE GOLD! In celebration of the announcement, the companies have decided to shorten the wait and release the game one week earlier than previously announced, with the zombie slaying commencing on Friday, April 21.

The Dead Island franchise first hit the scene back in 2011 and became an instant fan favorite. The latest installment takes players on a blood-soaked pulp voyage to escape Los Angeles, now nicknamed HELL-A, as it descends into zombie-infested chaos. It offers all the over-the-top action and dark humor that fans of the series have come to expect.

The game's storyline centers around a deadly virus that is spreading across Los Angeles, turning its inhabitants into ravenous zombies. The city is in quarantine, and the military has retreated. Players must survive, evolve, and save the world they know. Along the way, they'll uncover the truth behind the outbreak and the truth about who - or what - they are.

One of the most exciting aspects of Dead Island 2 is the advanced dismemberment system, making for a truly immersive experience. HELL-A is crawling with zombies that look and react realistically, with dozens of distinct zombie types, each with their own mutations and attacks, and hundreds of visual LA-themed variants.

Players can choose from six unique characters, each with their own personality and dialogue. The brand-new skill system allows players to fully customize each Slayer's abilities, try out crazy builds, and re-spec instantly.

Dead Island 2 also offers plenty of exciting quests, a crazy cast of characters, and a thrilling pulp story that immerses players in its twisted universe. The game offers a co-op mode for up to three players, promising a long (and gory) trip in HELL-A.

Leading up to the game's release, Deep Silver will be revealing more gameplay and trailers for fans to enjoy. Dead Island 2 is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One, so get ready to join the fight for survival this April.
