The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: the Amulet of Chaos lets loose in Extended gameplay.

This winter /early spring in a small corner at PAX East we were able to sit with the people drom Dear Villagers  and Artefact Studios to see up close gameplay of this very interesting looking game with a very long title. The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: the Amulet of Chaos.

With tongue firmly planted in cheek, You follow the adventures of its medieval heroes as the game takes a stab at the archetypes of the genre as the party bicker and argue on their way to retrieve the dangerous Amulet of Chaos.

Leading a ragtag company of unlikely heroes, players will embark on an epic adventure through the dreadful dungeon of Naheulbeuk, utilising both “strength” and “smarts” to overcome the very worst that the evil lord Zangdar has to throw at them.

With its origins as an audio-saga narrative driven story is expected to be a big part of this game and therefore the game will feature full voice over audio with one of its star recruits being Felica Day (The Guild, Geek & Sundry, Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

This weekend Dear Villagers released a new video on Youtube with some extended gameplay to grow your appetite before its release this summer.

The game plays as a tactical RPG with an XCOM style combat system. While Narrative and free exploration are available around the various dungeons, the game will change to a turn-based presentation once you enter combat. Using your skills, positioning but also your environment to your advantage it will be a daunting task to be victorious. 

Do not let the adorable art and humorous writing make  you think that the adventure is light or simple. The game will feature a full blown campaign of action and intrigue with many hours to explore and fight before you reach the story's conclusion.

Be prepared to take up sword and spell book this summer 2020.
